Key Responsibilities
As a key member of our team, you will:
Operate Heavy Equipment: Safely and efficiently use machines like excavators, backhoes, and trenchers to dig trenches, move earth, and install underground utilities like water, gas, or sewer lines.
Read and follow construction plans and blueprints carefully to ensure that all work is done in the correct location and at the proper depth according to project specifications.
Ensure that all safety rules are followed on the job site, including wearing proper protective gear, checking for underground hazards, and following company policies to prevent accidents or damage.
Collaborate with other team members, such as operators, laborers, and supervisors, to make sure the project stays on track and tasks are completed efficiently and correctly.
Perform regular checks and maintenance on the machinery, identifying any issues or wear that may need repair, and keeping the equipment clean and in good working condition to avoid breakdowns.
Required Qualification
Do you have what it takes? We’re looking for:
3+ years of experience working as an operator in underground utility projects, demonstrating hands-on expertise in excavation, trenching, and installing underground systems.
Proven ability to safely and efficiently operate excavators, backhoes, and other relevant construction machinery used in underground utility work.
Strong understanding of underground utility systems (such as water, sewer, gas, and electrical lines) and industry-standard excavation techniques, including trenching, shoring, and safe digging practices.
Possession of a valid driver's license and any required operator certifications (e.g., OSHA, heavy equipment operation, and safety training) relevant to underground utilities.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other operators, utility specialists, engineers, and supervisors to ensure smooth and coordinated project execution.
Preferred Qualifications
Stand out by having:
Previous experience as a foreman or supervisor in underground utility projects, with the ability to lead a team, manage on-site operations, and ensure project milestones are met efficiently.
Additional OSHA certifications (such as OSHA 30-hour or specialized safety courses) that demonstrate advanced knowledge of workplace safety standards and practices in the construction industry.
